From 1 December, Lithuania will enforce stricter rules for submitting applications for temporary residence permits and national visas. Applicants must now apply through the external service provider located in their birth country or a country where they hold citizenship. This change aims to enhance immigration control and align migration policies with Lithuania’s national security and labor market needs.
Exceptions are available for individuals applying for family reunification, highly skilled jobs, academic studies, or company transfers. Applicants from countries without an external service provider can apply in other designated locations under specific conditions. These adjustments ensure smoother processes while prioritizing security and efficiency.
Notably, nationals of countries such as Australia, Japan, the USA, and the UK will continue to enjoy flexible application options at any external service provider’s branch. Meanwhile, some branches, like Nepal, have adjusted their operational deadlines for existing applicants
